Start in Page Break Preview
Open the worksheet in Excel or LibreOffice and switch to Page Break Preview. The blue boundaries show what the saved workbook asks a PDF renderer to print; a converter cannot infer that columns beyond the boundary should be squeezed in.
Use a deliberate sequence
First clear an old print area, select the real table and set a new print area. Next choose landscape orientation when the table is wider than it is tall. Finally set scaling to one page wide and leave height automatic.
For example, a 14-column inventory table may fit legibly on A3 landscape but become unreadable on A4 portrait. Paper size is a design choice, not a converter error.
Remove hidden causes of extra pages
Formatting applied far beyond the data can expand the used range. Delete unused formatted rows and columns, inspect manual page breaks and check print titles.
- Repeat header rows on every page.
- Set margins before judging font size.
- Check merged cells near page boundaries.
- Save after every print-setting change.
What conversion will not fix
The isolated worker respects saved print settings where LibreOffice supports them. It does not redesign tables, shrink chosen columns selectively or refresh external data. Always inspect the generated PDF before distribution.
